This day was inevitable: Listening to silent hallways, wondering how to move forward, looking for ways to fill the quiet hours. Swirling around in the center of your gut is the constant question, “Who am I now?” Every end is a new beginning, they say – even the empty nest transition. But this new beginning feels pretty cold and empty.Every end is a new beginning. #emptynest Click To Tweet
One of my favorite truths lies in the story of a seed.
Take an apple seed. It forms over time within a growing, juicy apple. Then one day it finds itself violently pulled from its comfort zone where it dries up and is tossed here and there before eventually being buried alone in dark, damp dirt. Surely, this must be the end.
Instead, more changes begin as the outer shell cracks and falls off and new life pushes up from within. Soon a tender sprout makes its way toward the sun, growing into a whole new form. Season after season it reaches for the sky, expanding its territory with each passing hour. One day destiny bursts forth. Upon the branches of this once dried up seed hangs dozens of juicy apples full of hundreds of seeds. Life lived. Life expanded.Find hope in the story of a seed. #emptynest Click To Tweet
It’s not enough to just exist.
Just as surely as an apple seed was created to produce apples, you were created to fulfill dreams often buried and long ago forgotten. As an empty nester, it’s easy to think your most fruitful years are over. And while your focus and goals do change, your potential in no way decreases. You have destiny and purpose far beyond the silence of today.
I want you to know:
- You’re not alone.
- Transitions are innately unstable and confusing, but temporary.
- Details of life will change, but you haven’t lost your value or purpose.
- You’re transforming into a new level of beauty and confidence.
- It’s okay to dream again!
